Social Media and Online Marketing Agencies in Leeds

leeds social mediaAt the recent Internet World 2008 event at Earls Court I noticed that three Leeds-based online advertising agencies (Sense, Coolpink and Cheeze) were next to each other at the back of the room (rather than that being the worst place to have a stall it was actually the best areas to have a pitch, as they were placed outside the main Keynote Theatre and could appeal directly the crowds waiting to file into the auditorium).

This got me thinking about the agencies with fingers in digital pies in the Leeds area; while I live in Leeds I work in Bradford (primarily) so I don't get involved in the day-to-day information gathering that professionals in Leeds would.

Leeds is slowly establishing itself as an agency haven in the north, something it's doing very well; I feel Manchester (40 miles west across the Pennines) deals with the web design brilliantly, Sheffield (35 miles south) deals with the technological infrastructure, and Bradford (10 miles west) does all the training (OK, all very fuzzy, but it broadly follows these lines). So who are the online marketing agencies in Leeds?

As a list, and as a learning exercise for me (I know a few, but nowhere near the whole), I plugged a few search terms into Google; I was quite surprised how few social media agencies and consultants are in the LS postcodes - Wolfstar was the only Leeds-founded social media agency I came across (those part of a larger corporation include Cheeze and TwentySix). So there's an opening there for someone. Hey, including me!

    Peter, thanks for the plug. In fact I'm glad that we came up on your search as we don't really make a big thing of being in Leeds - just happens to be where I live! Hardly any of our clients are even in Yorkshire but we do have some in London, Brighton, Sweden, Norway, Coventry, the USA and Canada.

    Forgot to mention that we were also at Olympia for Internet World, but on the WOM UK stand at IDMF. We were helping to staff the word of mouth marketing clinic run by WOM UK, the new WOM industry trade association.
